In light of all the challenges we’re facing, the most frustrating thing for me is that the solutions are actually easy and already exist. We’re not lacking in ideas, technologies, or pathways forward—we’re simply trapped in systems and mindsets that prevent us from moving into action. It’s as though we’re stuck in inertia, despite having everything we need to address these crises. The hardest part isn’t inventing new solutions—it’s breaking free from the structures and habits that keep us from implementing the ones we already have.
What if we could coordinate and take action together? Let’s try. Our attempt to test this is through something simple, yet powerful: singing a song together. Imagine 1 billion people across the planet, singing the same song at the same time. Would that show us that we can, in fact, coordinate on a massive scale? And if we can come together for something as universal as music, what else could we coordinate around? What bigger challenges could we face together? This simple act of collective harmony could be a profound demonstration of our potential to unite and act as one—and from there, the possibilities are limitless.
But—1 billion people? You might say that’s not possible, right? But what if it was? In just a week, we could reach agreements with four incredible NGOs working with children—Roots & Shoots, Lang Lang Foundation, Save the Children UK, and AIME—through which we can already reach 2.5 million children. This is just the beginning. We paused at that point because we wanted to develop the song first. Now, this song is becoming a reality—co-created by children and musical educators, and tested in a variety of languages.
Once the song is ready to be presented, we will share it with the world and extend invitations to more NGOs, expanding our reach and participation. We’ll also invite artists from around the globe to host their own live-streams during the one hour on the one day when we all sing together. Leading the way will be the world’s only all-female orchestra, a powerful symbol of unity, creativity, and collaboration. With their guidance, this global musical moment will become a unique celebration of connection—showing that, even across different languages and cultures, we can harmonize as one. This collective act of singing together will be a reminder of our shared potential to coordinate and create positive change on a massive scale.
